Murphy from Armagh < Ireland born Oct. 10 , 1810

My mother's great grandfather and maybe 7 brothers left Ireland before 1840 to United States. He settled in Lynchburg , Virginia , U.S.A. He stated he was born in Armagh , Ireland on his citizenship records,( date of his birth Oct. 10 , 1810 ). He signed his name Michael P. Murphy ! I'm looking for relatives still in Armagh and any relatives related to the brothers whom he went to U.S.A. I  don't know the brother's names or where they settled in U.S. A.

Hello Jon, I am looking over older queries. I see no record of a Michael Murphy born in Armagh 1800 to 1820 but see 2 Patricks, both born in Armagh parish as distinct from the county, now Northern Ireland.

Without the parents names we would be guessing anyway, there are a large number of Murphy baptisms for that period on the record and undoubtly a lot missing depending on the parish.

If looking for local relatives I suggest locating a private geneallogy group for Armagh on Facebook there should be some and some doing DNA if you have decided on that route but at the distance you will be finding it difficult as everyone will have the same issues.

Good Luck

Pat
