Mr Paul Brady

Hello,

I'm trying to trace my paternal Brady family in Dublin and know almost nothing about that side, so I'd be very grateful for any help.

What I know:

- My father: John Joseph (known as Sean) Brady, born 1 September 1941 in Dublin. His birth was registered in Dublin South City No. 4 (registration number 554908).

- His father (my grandfather): Thomas Brady, of Millbank, Lucan, Co. Dublin. He was a van driver in 1941 and later worked in a woollen factory.

- His mother (my grandmother): Mary Brady, née Esrity or Esnity (the spelling is uncertain, as the handwriting on the certificate is hard to read).

- My father married Norma Bowskill on 14 December 1963 at Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. He was serving in the RAF at the time.

I don't know when Thomas and Mary married, how old they were, who their parents were, or whether my father had any brothers or sisters.

Could anyone help me find their marriage record (probably between 1930 and 1941), and then work back to Thomas's and Mary's families? Any suggestions on variant spellings of Esrity or Esnity would also be very welcome.

Thank you so much,

Paul

The Brady family was from Co. Cavan. Townland of Enagh in the civil parish of Knockbride. Here is the 1901 census https://nationalarchives.ie/collections/search-the-census/census-record/#census_year=1901&surname__icontains=brady&firstname__icontains=patrick&county=Cavan&townland__icontains=enagh&limit=30&id=7315376

Potentially this maybe the 1895 marriage for Patrick Brady to Mary Smyth  Note he was a widowerhttps://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1895/10535/5837358.pdf
