Hi Kevin,
Answers to your questions....
Any idea why I am only seeing Baptism s and not Birth certificates on the Parish Records?
##
Births, Deaths and Marriages as Civil Records were introuduced in 1864, we rely on the the Church records, Roots Ireland are a copy of these records. Having said that they are not complete in that site, but there again quicker to search by name than by Parish as you don't always know the Parish.
This link............is the Church records, you will see the map, then the counties, then in there are the Parishes. Go to the nearsest known Parish and if the years are earlier than what is listed, look in the other Parishes left right up and down to see if you can get the years.
You will find that most are from 1832/5 or 1845...... this is when Catholics could have their Religion back, after the Reformation. Earlier Parish Church books are lucky to have survived.

However I cant see the link to Phillip Brady and Rose Reilly , no Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate for Charles showing phillip as father?

As above.
I have found a marriage certificate for Phillip and Rose 31/05/1778 in the Killinkere parish of Cavan and possible Baptisms for both in Lurgan in 24/11/1758 amd 16/01/1760 respectively!!!
I assume should be in the same parish records but dont think they go back far enough?

Yes they do.............this is the page, 1778 about halfway down, you will have to enlarge the page and focus! It's in Latin.

Do you use a PC?
if you highlight and copy and paste the names you find into a search engine (Google etc) you will get the place on a map.
Killinkere..............you will see it is a long way from Cavan Town.

Lurgan, County Cavan.......near to Killinkere.

You might be better going from this link.................has the Tithe, census and other records. (some of these are in Roots Ireland)

See the Census the Census search forms option.................
This was when paople who moved away had to apply to get an official documnet for proof of where they were from and some had to prove their parents.
This has been a great help to me in searching as a lot of people when to Scotland.
Having said about the Civil records 1864, this is where to look.
Marriage from 1844 to 1944, Briths from 1864 to 1920 (now, as it goes up when the 100 years lapses.) Deaths........if they are there!

Kevin, I bet you wished you never asked! there are more sites to search.
Try..............this one...............they have births up to 1958 I am in there. Don't go by some ones tree, make sure you see the site entry as some trees clashed with dates to names, my tree is a mess so I don't use it now.

I did find a Great Uncle in there who went to the USA, everyone thought he died in the Secord Boer War. He had to give his parents names.
