Moloney/O'Mara

My G-Grandfather was William Bede Moloney ,born in Sydney Australia 2 Oct 1860. Parents according to Birth Cert were :          John Moloney .. 32 yrs old ,so born abt 1828 , in C.Galway . He was a Policeman at the time and married                                      Anna O'Mara in Sydney in 1854. Anna stated her age as 32 as well , born in Limerick , Ireland (so abt 1828 as well).                    They had two other children at the time of William's birth - Mary and Edward.

I can find no records of either the other children's birth , John and Anna's marriage or their arrival details from Ireland.

Also wish to find any detail on John or Anna's parentage.

Any help appreciated.

John (Melbourne,Australia)

John,

Have you come across John or Ann's parents' names. There are birth records on RootsIreland (paid subscription) and Ancestry (which I think you have a tree on) but hard to determine which one without parents' names. also 1854 minus 32 would make their birth year around 1822.

Maybe

John we generally concentrate our research on Ireland. You might want to contact the Australian government for the marriage record. It might have parent names. Also, official death records might include names.

Thanks MaryTV.

Ages of 32 yrs for both John and Anne are from William Bede Moloney's Birth Cert details (I purchased a copy) .. born in 1860 , so about 1828 has to have been birth dates for both parents.

Sorry - I was a bit unclear in my post.

From your info I have found Mary's death , but still unable to find her or brother Edward's birth details - what is the "Volume Number" you have advised ?

Anne's death also not found .. where does your info come from ?

Yes - I'm on Ancestry (have been for quite a while). Details on John and Anne's parents I've been given hints on cannot be correct if the information they've both supplied on WBM's Birth Cert are correct - I cannot think why they wouldn't be.(eg : John's father was Michael Moloney born 1820 - this cannot be if John was born around 1828 !)

I have information from NSW Police Archives (John stated he was a policeman at the time of WBM's birth) - Appointed in 1858 , native of Ireland and little else.

I'll keep searching - there has to be a record of their migration somewhere which might give some other info.

Thanks again

John

John,

The records I found all came from Ancestry. Not sure what the volume relates to. Perhaps a book in Australia or Ancestry record number??
