Mitchell's and Mullen's in Cahernakelly, Galway

Hello All,  I have posted here before quite a few years ago.  I still have not got very far with my research.  My Great Grandmother was Mary Mitchell born somewhere between 1857-1859 in Cahernakelly, Galway (per her Australian marriage certificate in 1884).  Her parents were listed as William Mitchell and Bridget Mullen and William was a farmer.  I have checked Griffiths Valuations and no William Mitchell in Cahernakelly but there is one in Rathgorgin, Kiltulla which I think is close.  Any Townland close to Cahernakelly would help me.  I'd like to find out where I can see the "Revised Griffiths Valuations" to see who his tenancy passed onto which might give a clue?  Can anyone either look that up or tell me where to look please to find these?  I have also found quite a few records on Ancestry of "Ireland, Sustainability Loan Fund, 1812-1868 for Wm Mitchel with a residence of Cahernakelly, Galway; Fund = Kilconickny which I think might be my William Mitchell but I can't see the actual written records which might give more information.  Can anyone either look that up to tell me how to see the original records on these please?  I have not found a baptism for Mary or her parents marriage.  Any help would be appreciated.  Regards  Gail Bryant

The issue in not finding a baptismal record is possibly a gap in records in the parish of Killimordaly/Kiltullagh. There are no baptismal records from January 1854-December 1862.in that parish https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0102?locale=en

I looked on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal records for siblings either.

The revisions to the Griffiths Valuation are only available at the Valuation Office in Dublin. There is a project to digitized these records and place them online but I believe funding is an issue. As an aside and no help to you is the fact that the revisions are online for the six counties of Northern Ireland.

Thank you Roger for your reply. With no baptism records for that period in that area, then I should not keep trying to find one. But I am wondering if Roots Ireland might have a marriage for Mary Mitchell’s parents, William Mitchell and Bridget Mullen (with variations of spelling for surnames) as I’ve not been able to find that either.

Thank you for telling me about the Revision Books not being online. How I wish they were as being in Australia there is a problem. I will contact the Valuations Office now. Thank you once again. Gail Bryant
