Michael Elkins looking for Patrick Gleeson

Looking for the Gleeson family : Patrick Gleeson my 3rd Great Grandfatherwho married Margaret Kearney around 1835. They had 9 children, the youngest Julia born about 1850, we believe,in Nenagh, County Tipperary.

Margaret and some of her children came to Australia around 1865 after spending time in Manchester England where I found them on the Census. One daughter Julia aged 15 married a John Mills from Kings County who came to Australia aboard the Champion of the seas, passenger No9/85 from Scotland in 1862. John and Julia married on the 27th of October 1863in St Alipius Church, Ballaratand theyhad 18 children. Their eldest son, Kenneth Gordon, was born in Gordon Victoria in 1866. Kenneth Gordon is my 2nd Great Grandfather.

I have all the decandants of Kenneth Gordon if anybody would like the record. I also have some records of the decendants of Kenneth Gordons Brothers and sisters. Five of John and Julias sons servrd in WW1 with three paying the ultimate price.

I would be most grateful if anybody can find any details of Patrick Gleeson and Margaret Kearney.

Hello Michael, I am looking at old queries and I cannot find the marriage you mention, the records for Nenagh appear to cover the time but while they commence in the late 1700 there are large gaps but I searched countrywide on Roots Ireland 1825 to 1845.

Here is the registers available free online, come missing I think but it can only be searched by date and event and then read, not always an easy read mind you.

There are a number of Private Tipperary Genealogy Facebook pages if you are inclinded to join but not always successful.
