I am looking for this family line starting with my grandmother and grandfather Gertrude and James Mcmullen. They were born in north riding England as was James father Alexander Mcmullen. Alexander Mcmullen I think had a father called James who was born in Ireland, down and connor region. Does anyone have these names in their trees or know any information about the individuals?
About what year would James have been born?
According to the 1911 census in Middlesborough, James McMullen was born c 1860 in Ireland., (Looks like County D, so that could be County Down, but could also be Donegal). and had been married 24 years (so married c 1887). His wife was born in Cumberland so presumably they married in England. Son Alexander looks to have been born in Middlesborogh in 1906, mother’s maiden name Hunter. I don’t see a marriage in England for James & Mary.
There are trees on Ancestry which show James McMullen as born in Newry, Co Down but I don’t see any documentary evidence to support that.
