Hello, I think our 2nd great grandparents were brother and sister. We come from Bernard Mcmanus and Hannah McCann. You're from Bernard's sister's spout Margaret Mcmanus.
My brother (Stuart) and I have started the family tree recently so very excited to see a match to the information you have provided.
Happy to share any info I have to strengthen our ties.

Hoping someone can assist.....

Looking for information on the parents of John Francis Mac Manus born 1839 "Stragowna" Co Fermanagh Ireland to Hugh and Mary nee Murphy.

From a book I located during my searching:

"Macmanus , John Francis , Seaton, was born in Ireland in 1839 , where he was brought up to farming with his parents . He came to Victoria in 1859 by the ship Champion of the Seas and settles in a town called Seaton, in Victoria, Australia. He was married in 1871 to Miss O'Sullivan , of Ireland, and had a family of eight children"..

John is my great grandfather.

Hugh and Mary were my great great grandparents, but the trail has stopped with John at this stage.

John also named one of his sons after Terence Bellew Mac Manus (1811-1851) as I am also.

I am 70 and have been unable to find any details of Hugh & Mary, except that they supposedly had John as their son.

I am endeavouring to go back as far as possible so I can hand down our part of the Mac Manus family tree to my sons.

I have attached a photo of John's Headstone from the cemetery where he and his wife Mary (O'Sullivan) and some of their children are buried here in Glenmaggie.

Any help would be kindly appreciated.
