McAndrew of Crossmolina

denisemcandrews@gmail.com has asked me to post this query:

My husband and I are going to Crossmolina in May 2025 to try to sort out his McAndrew family. My husbands grandfather xxx, Thomas McAndrew, born in Crossmolina in 1835. We wonder if Catherine (born McAndrew married Broderisk) may have been the sister of Thomas McAndrew.

Denise:

RC records for Crossmolina parish start in 1831. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and the earliest Catherine McAndrew baptismal record was in 1841. Is it possible that Catherine was born before 1831 or she was baptized in a parish other than Crossmolina. There was an 1838 baptismal record for a Thomas McAndrew in Crossmolina with father Peter and mother Mary Barrett. There were no other baptismal records for children of Peter and Mary.

Could you also fill out our Meet and Greet form for your visit to Crossmolina in May 2025? Thanks!

I will email this response to your gmail address.
