I am a great-great grandson of Peter Fitzmaurice, brother of Timothy. I have very little info about their parents, Peter Fitzmaurice and Mary Freely. The following info and related info can be found at my Ancestry.com pages
Children of PETER FITZMAURICE and MARY FREELY are not fully known and there were probably more than the four listed below. Most Irish Catholic families had 10 or more children at the time. The deadly impact of The Great Famine between 1846 and 1852 on this generation is not known.
i. PETER2 FITZMAURICE was born in 1837 in the Townland of Forthhill
and died on 23 January, 1923 in Ballyhaunis
ii. MARY FITZMAURICE was born in 1840 in the Townland of Forthill and
died in 1887. She married Pat Murry and they had at least two children,
Thomas and Bridget.
ii. TIMOTHY FITZMAURICE was born in 1844 in Forthill and died in
Ballyhaunis on 10 August 1888. Records show that he was a publican
(bar owner) in Ballyhaunis. He married MARIA LYONS on 27
November 1876 in Ballyhaunis. One of their daughters Mary Ellen (1877-1964) emigrated to Alaska with her husband (and first cousin), Peter Gilmore Sr., for the 1897 Gold Rush; they both died in Ketchikan, Alaska where they ran a successful business. Other daughters included Mary (b.1879), Bridget (b. 1883), and Margaret Jane (b.1884)
iv. MARGARET FITZMAURICE was born in 1848 and died in 1922 in
Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland. She married MARTIN HANNON.
