I assume this is one of George Adams Hicks sons:

Probate of the Will of George Adams Hicks late of 2 College Gardens, Belfast, Medical Doctor, who died 24 January 1920 granted at Belfast 1 April 1920 to Robert Moore Fraser, Medical Doctor and Mary Margaret Hicks, the widow. Effects: £10512 9s 3d.
The above will is not on-line but should be in PRONI in Belfast.
Hi Elwyn,
Thanks so much for your kind reply. This George Adams Hicks is indeed the son of George Adams Hicks Snr and he is my 2nd great uncle. I was aware of the will at Proni https://apps.proni.gov.uk/WillsCalendar_IE/willsSearchResultsDetails.aspx but as you say there is no copy online. Do you know if there is any way for me to get a copy of the will itself? I live in Ontario, Canada. Thanks Sue
Sue,
If you e-mail PRONI they will copy the will and send it to you (for a fee). They are shut at the moment, but obviously that service should resume when they re-open.

Do you know how George Adams Hicks got his middle name? I'm assuming that one of his ancestors' last names was Adams. I'm looking for information on a William Adams, born 1774, in Drumcliff, Cregg, Sligo. Thanks.
George Adams Hicks father was George Hicks born Jan 31, 1831 in Bunn, Galoon, Fermanagh.
(Citation for George's birth and his twin Eleanor born to William and Eleanor Hicks: Fermanagh - Galloon Register, Baptisms 1830-1844 Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Fermanagh Index Copyright 1831 No. 93/94 Jan 31st George and Eleanor, William & Eleanor Hicks, Bunn, Farmer. Twins. Do. George was a twin.)
Eleanor or Elinor was Elinor Adams. William Hicks and Elinor Adams were married 24 Oct 1817 in Bunn, Galoon, Fermanagh. Elinor shows up in an informal census of Fermanagh living with her other son John. I have DNA matches with John's descendants.
Citation: MacDonald, Brian. “A Fermanagh Census.” Clogher Record, vol. 14, no. 3, 1993, pp. 77–110. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/27699363. Accessed 8 Feb. 2021. Informal census taken by a clergyman around (1850 shows John Hicks aged 26, wife Eliza afed 22 or 26, mother Ellen Hicks 62, brother William 21 and three servants.)
So, I believe George Adams Hicks's grandmother was Elinor Adams born in 1788(as per census) in Galoon, Fermanagh. You can read the census online if you create a free account with JSTOR. Maybe you'll find other Adams. Don't know how or why the Hicks got to Sligo. I spent a lot of time looking for ancestral Adams and Hicks in Sligo but never had any luck. In my family, it makes sense they came from county Fermanagh. The DNA matches clinched it for me.
Hope that helps and is not too confusing.
Where did you get your info on William Adams 1774 of Drumcliff?
Susan Beatty
Info on William Adams has been passed down through the family. I don't know anything about his parents or siblings; I'm desperately searching for that. Anthony emmigrated to the US in 1845 and William followed in 1865. You can see more info on my Anthony and William Adams post.
Do you know if Eleanor emigrated to Illinois, US ?
Thanks.
I don't know. Although I couldn't find a gravestone or burial record for Elinor, I would guess she stayed in Ireland because she lived with her son John and his wife who both stayed in Ireland. Cheers, Sue
I found an Eleanor Adams, born in Ireland, on the 1870 Illinois census. I thought maybe this was her but her last name would've been Hicks so I guess it's not. I got excited for a minute because Anthony Adams, William Adams is son, had an uncle in Illinois that he was trying to meet up with.
Its tough to find people in Ireland that long ago. You really need the place they were from and then you can search gravestones, odd records, Griffiths etc. Also need to know their religion. Best of luck.
I've found a couple Adams' in Sligo that I'm related to. Any relation to Ciaran, Adele, Donal, or Aofie Adams?
