Margaret Ryan search

I was hoping to get back over to Ireland to search for her records as I had only found out on my last day in Ireland her parents names, but then Covid hit and I couldnt get back

any help would be absolutely appreciated 

I have checked and re-checked the Army family of Russells in Dublin but still cannot make any connection to my family, so I do not believe it is them

HI...................  I was looking at your problem,  sorry Myles is my name. Im all clear up to Margarets marriage in 1929 and the birth of the children. where did you get the St Michans details.  James is her father  according to her marriage and it seems alive in 1929..  You do know that you can do all the searching on line yourself at no cost.   I looked at the Margarets born between 1900 and 1910 with a father James and only found 1 a Butcher from Dominick street married to a Mary Gahan. he doesnt appear in the census of 1911.  The Aunts that were in the Public house in Donaghmore might give us a line into the family . The James you looked up was a soldier.   A name on either of those aunts would help.  Let me know  Best for now Myles

Hi .........................    Myles here again ,  Sorry  sometimes im not here at all, I just realised that Im breaking the 100 year rule which is there to protect those who might not want to be mentioned,as is their right.    What I can tell you is Irish Genealogy is a free site for both church and civil records I can never remember how to Copy and Paste. Family Search is another site also the Census of Ireland for 1901 and 1911 from the National archives the NLI   National Library of Ireland for Parish records across the country. Your problem looks straight forward ,but is quite complicated,more from whats not there than is there in the records.      Wishing you the best  Myles

thank you for taking the time to have a look at my brickwall.

when I went to Clogheen I went to St Mary's where Martin and Margaret were married. The register there stated parents were James Ryan and Catherine McGrath and Margaret was baptised (looks like) April 1907 at St Michans Dublin.

Parish records are not electronically loaded yet for the period of interest, so I need to get back to Ireland

I have search thru Irish genealogy all the time but there is no record of her there, nor can I find her in the cencus for 1911. (or 1901) I always hedge my bets LOL

I have no idea the names of the elderly aunts and you are right, that would be extremely helpful, the only thing I found out about them is that (apparently) they owned a pub in I think Burncourt., Im not even sure if the elderly aunts were Ryans or McGrath's, but there was a Cornilius Ryan that owned a pub in Burncourt. But there is a los a pub called "Ryans' in Burncourt. 

My plan was to get back to Ireland to look around and to search Dublin Parish records. I also need to get back to Burncourt to find my great grandfathers and great grandmothers graves.

Margaret Ryan (my grandmother ) died aged 25 so the records for her are very slim and few between, but her birth record is a definate missing link

Hi Fi,  The fact that you Grandmother wrote that information gives great gravity to it. Dont throw the dirty water out yet.            We need to check the St Michans details out. they are not on line as you said and are unlikely to be for some time if ever.  Sorry to say but basicall all the things you were told are stories,even if truths, which can change over time.    I could give you loads of stories why a girl should go down the country and get a job. Love being the biggest.   Your not even sure at the moment if your granmother was 25 or a little older. I checked the soldier out and he is from Rathdown  which is an area of Dublin suburbs.     He is the only James Ryan who married a Catherine Mcgrath,that I have found. He was a Gunner on the East Pier in Dunlaoghaire( or Dunleary) His Father was John and his brother Edward married Catherine Mcgraths sister . They had a Margaret,but she was baptised in Rathdown.  The father John, of James,  lived on Brennanstown road which is basicall Dunlaoire. Hes a Dublin man and has wife was from Wexford. no connection to Tipp.  The records for most of of South Dublin Church records  are not on line except in Civil records. Which make it a bit difficult by times.     Best for now  Myles

Hi Fi,  Sorry bad wording by me, I was speaking about his brother,had a Margaret, so the name is in the family,               Some downs and some ups, It suddenly dawned on me that some of my own ancestors  were baptised in Dunlaoghaire,Rathdown in _________ St Michaels Church, as you said it looks like St Michans.                Some more ups and downs, the records are on line in Church records in the NLI its under St Michaels in Kingstown which is what the British called it at that time. I checked it out as you can, but alas, she wasnt there,         I found John Christopher 23-12-1903  and Mary Elizabeth 7-8-1904.         Alls not lost , I have come across several , no quite a few with problems of Baptism and Birth which Margaret has.  You dont have the sort of information she had at those times without it being true. Also lots of Churches checked out the info they were given, you can see it lots of times in St Michaels records. I have no doubt that she is as she says.        I couldnt see St Marys where she was Married to get a copy of the details.     Perhaps you did.      if not, Im sure if you wrote to them you could get a copy.      Where did  you find Marys death in another County.  Sad to think those parents lost two children so close together.       Where did you find  James according to the Army records.     Also there are other Churches in that area like the one they were married Monkstown, if they moved from East Pier.      Ill try to look up their Ancestors and see if there are any answers     Best Myles

I went to Clogheen and searched the parish records for the marriage cert and scanned it.

The Parish records in Dublin I searched (online) up as far as they have them scanned , however for the period that we assume she is baptised, these parish records are not lonline as yet, I have written to several of the churches in Dublin with no luck. (and have cheched the Parish records that are loaded for period close to her baptisim) I need to re-write to the churches as Covid hit and and all hope was lost of a reply, now I assume that they are backed-up with requests
