Maguire Baptism 1889 Co Cavan

Hello

I am looking for the Baptismal record of my grandmother's oldest brother Peter James Maguire born approx 26 December 1889.

Parents Peter James and Catherine (Breslin) Maguire. Married 7 January 1889 at Saint Patrick's Church - Shercock - Cavan.

The Maguire Family lived in Shercock. Their family church was Saint Patrick's Parich Killan; Diocese of Kilmore.

Peter James was their first born of seven children.

On the Baptismal record, I am looking to learn who were Peter's sponsors.

Thank You - from Anne (Bridget Maguire's grandaughter)

RootsIreland shows 8 children, not 7. There were two Catherines, so the elder one must have died young.

Anne,

The site irishgenealogy.ie has two separate civil birth record entries for Peter James. See attached.

Patricia and Carolyn

Thank you for your information about Peter James.

Your records note the sponsors on Peters Baptismal certificate are James Lee and Anne Dermott.

James Lee and Rose Anne McDermott were listed as sponsors on Pete James and Catherine Breslin's 1889 marriage certicifate.

and Rose Anne McDermott was a sponsor on my grandmother's 31 August 1898 Baptismal certificate.

It is heartwarming to learn my great grandmother Catherine had a 10+ year friendship with Rose Anne.

1) Are you able to find a death certificate for my grandmother's oldest brother - Peter James born 1888 or 1889 in Shercock.

I believe he died at the age of 22, so the year of death would be 1910 or 1911.

I believe at the time he was living with his family and was an apprentice to his father who was a blacksmith in Shercock - Cavan.

Specifically, I am looking for cause of death; an accident or illness as Peter was only 22 years.

Sincerely - Anne

Anne,

Attached is Peter James' civil death record from 1916. He died from TB.

Regards,

Carolyn

Hello Again Carolyn

Thanks much for the PDF of Peter James 1916 civil death record.

My reseach shows his father also named Peter James of Shercock - died approx 13 June 1916 at age 56.

So much sorrow for the family in such a short time frame.

I believe my grandmother Bridget Maguire born 31 August 1898, left Ireland for New York City around 1916.

Bridget's older sister Mary was already living in New York City with her husband and young children.

As my grandmother's father and oldest brother died in 1916. Would their final resting place - burial be at the family church: Saint Patrick's Catholic in Shercock?

Sincerely - Anne
