Looking for Wards in the Inishowen Peninsula

I would be happy to hear from any Wards livingin or near the Inishowen Peninsula, Co. Donegal, regarding their knowledge of James Ward (1672 - abt 1758), his father Thomas Ward (abt 1645 - abt 1676), or James' sons James II b. 1700, William b. 1702, John b. 1704). They are all presumed to have been born in the Inishowen Peninsula prior to emigrating to Pennsylvania and Virginia about 1730. (Some family members may have stayed in Ireland after that.)

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Hopefully someone will see your family history and provide a comment. I looked at the 1901 census which I know was 170 years after your Wards left Ireland but I see very few Wards in Inishowen. Mostly they were on the northwest side of Donegal.

Have you considered eith a Y-DMA test or an autosomal DNA test? The Y test goes straight back on your pure Ward paternal line while the autosomal looks at both your paternal and maternal lines.

Thank you Roger.  I will try to hunt up the few Wards there may be in Inishowen during my brief time there the week after next, but I could check out NW Donegal also.  Do you have any particular suggestions where to look?

Yes, I took both the 11 marker Y-DNA and autosomal-DNA tests a while back (Family Tree DNA and Ancesty) but I didn't see any identified relatives pointing to the north of Ireland.
