Looking for Mitchell's and Relation

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for any input and/ relation of those listed below. My great great great Grandfather Daniel Mitchell was born in Ireland and Immigrated over to the US. Here is the mixed information. I found in an old book that they came over in 1850, However some US census records say as late as 1854. I have not been able to find any ship logs for this Immigration either. His grave stone says he was born in 1800 however some census record indicates as late as 1814. I have found Daniel and His wife, Mary Corcoran's marriage Certificate and they were married in 1841 in County Offaly, in the Lemanaghan civil parish. He died on 22 Feb 1890 and is buried in the St Bridget Cemetery in Marshall county, Kansas. He came over with his wife Mary Corcoran and his first son John. I found that they had a son named James in 1841 also, but I am assuming he pasted away at a young age as he did not make the journey to America with them. They had a son born in New York based on census records, another child in Missouri and they eventually settled in Nemeha County Kansas. I cannot seem to find any information on him or his family before they arrived in America other than the Marriage and the Birth of James. I have searched Multiple Irish Genealogy sites, some church records, ship logs and I cannot seem to find out much on where they existed before they came to the US or any names of him or Marys parents. Also, just the other day I found what could be them in the 1821 Irish census in County Kings, however it is in Kinnity / Cumber / 19 , aprox. 26 Km away from where they were married and where thier first son was born. I dont know if this could be them or not. Any input and / or Information on this family in Ireland would be greatly welcomed. If there are any cousins out there still living in Ireland that are or could be related I would love to hear from you as well. Thanks!

Respectfully,
Chris Mitchell

Chris:

The records for Lemanaghan RC church start 1821-1822 so Daniels baptismal record would not be available if he came from that parish. Later this year the National Library of Ireland plans to put the RC parish registers online for free searching.

I looked at the 1853 Griffiths Valuation for Lemanaghan civil parish. Only one Mitchell was shown, a Patrick in Pollagh townland. The only Daniel Mitchell in the Griffiths in Co. Offaly was in Cumber Kinnitty parish which is probably the same one you found in the 1821 census (or maybe his son).

See www.askaboutireland.ie for the Griffiths.

I checked the online Irish phone book in Co. Offaly for Mitchells. There are 10 listings. Make sure you use the Residential Tab/
