Looking for members of the Neill/Neil Family

Monaghan

Hello, my name is Gwendolyn Reagan, and I live in California (born and raised).Ive traced my Irish roots on my fathersmothers side of the family to the Neill/Neil family, out of County Monaghan. I have names and birth dates going back to the 1700s! However, Im not aware of any relatives who still live in Ireland. Im getting married in June and weare hoping to make a trip to Ireland later this year, for our honeymoon. I would love to find relatives before making the trip, so that I could potentially meet some while Im there. Here are a few of the names I have of relatives born in County Monaghan, beginning with my 3rd great grandfather -Richard NeilB:01 Jan 1800County, Monaghan, IrelandD:03 Dec 1878Minnesota, USA. Allhis siblings were born in County Monaghan as well - the oldest was Jane Neil/Neill born May 13, 1797. Of course their father, James Neil/Neill Sr wasborn in County Monaghan ca. 1771. If anyone is related to the people Ive listed or any of the siblings of Richard/children of James, please contact me. Thank you, Gwendolyn

Dear Gcianna:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site!

I have found a baptism record for Richard O'Neill of Clones with parents noted as Martin O'Neill and Martha Kells.  This is a Church of Ireland record.  The date of baptism is:  25 December 1825.  The residence is Carneyhome, Clones, County Monaghan, and the division is noted as Aghardumsee.

He has a sister named Jane Anne O'Neill who is baptised on the 28 October 1827 to the same couple (the mother's name is noted as Matty Kells).  Her address is also Carneyhome, Clones, County Monaghan.  These two records are transcribed on Roots Ireland which is a subscription site.  The website address is:  www.rootsireland.ie

The above two children were the only two that I could find born to this couple.  The Clones Church of Ireland records are available in the local Church of Ireland parish office in Clogher diocese.  There are also records held at the PRONI office (Public Records Office of Northern Ireland in Belfast).  You can contact them at the link below:

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Jane.

Hi Gcianna:  If you are interested, creating an Ancestor profile of any member of this family might be useful for your research.  All our XO Chronicle profiles are available to read for our members, and often others are also researching the same families or the same locations.  They may be able to assist you with research as a result.  The link to create an Ancestor profile is here:  https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database

If you have any other questions, please let me know.  I only saw this message today for some reason.

All the best,

Jane
