Bill,
McCargo is not a very common name in Ireland. In the 1901 census there were just 14 people of that name. 2 families in fact. Both in Co. Antrim.
One family was Presbyterian and lived in Ballylumford, Islandmagee. The other was RC, save for the husband who was Church of England. They lived in Flax St, Belfast.

Your family’s denomination might help decide which is perhaps more likely to be connected to your own family. There are still some McCargo households in Northern Ireland at present. However all are ex-directory and so you won't be able to contatxc them that way. You might however find some on the electoral register, though you will have to pay to search it.
Hello Bill,
My 3x great grandfather was a fellow by the name of Frances (Frank) McCargo. All our family knows is that he was born in Ireland sometime in the early 1770's and ended up in SW Scotland in Portpatrick, then Kirkmaiden parish. The last we know is that according to the 1851 census he was living at my gg grandmother's (Susan McCargo) and gg grandfather's (William Taylor Sr) farm at Longforth in Old Luce parish. I would love to connect with you and share information, perhaps we share some common ancestry!!! Hope to hear from you
