Looking for Johanna Mcmahon

Am looking for Johannah Mcmahon born possibly County Clare 1838 father William.Married John Mcgrath around C1858 and migrated to South Australia in 1858 aboard ship NUGGET.

John Mcgrath died 1860 and Johannah married again in 1862,to Thomas Jones or John Johns.Possibly Hannah died New South Wales 1930 ??

Hi. The reference to a Johanna McMahon piqued my interest. Have been trying to find a Johanna for some time. My great grandfather Thomas McMahon and his sister Ellen from Doonass/Kildoorus County Clare came to Australia on 3 October 1864 on the “Scirocco ll”. A Johanna McMahon was their “sponsor”.

I have been told a Johanna M sponsored an Ann and Con McMahon to Victoria in 1856. Same Johanna?? Not a really common Christian name about then?? Suspect Johanna had links to our McMahon’s.

Your mention of McGrath raised my eyebrows. In July 1927 a Patrick McGrath (father was Thomas, mother’s maiden name Bridget O’Neill, born County Clare) died at Tumut, NSW aged 77. He had married Mary Ellen McMahon at Tumut. Mary Ellen McMahon’s parents where James and Johanna McMahon.

All a bit of a long shot but……!!

I have been looking for my Great, Great Grandmother who was born in Wicklow circa 1838.  I have been given some information that her name was Anna Maria McGrowey (McMahon) but believe she used several names..  I have also been given information her father was a William McMahon.  I have found a connection between her and Thomas Jones and John Johns and my great grandmother was named Ellen Johns.  It would appear that Anna married Thomas Jones in March 1862 and had 3 children.  Thomas Jones died in 1866.

There is no record that Anna married John Johns but they had 4 children, with Ellen being my great grandmother.  Anna's surname was different for each child.

I have information that she arrived in South Australia on board the ship Nugget in 1858 stating her age as 21.  She died in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia on 21 August 1930.  I would love to find out more about her as I have been searching for her for a long time and any information about her life in Ireland and any other information would be be appreciated.

Regards
