Looking for Morans from Tiranascragh County Galway

My great grandfather Patrick Ambrose Moran born March 14, 1869 in County Galway. He might have been from the town called Tiernascragh, not 100% sure on that. His father was also Patrick Moran and his mother was Mary Mullin. He came to the USA and lived in New York City where he met and married Ellen Igoe from Ballina County Mayo on Nov 29, 1899. They had three children one of which is my grandfather. I am looking to see if there are any descendants of this Moran branch there. Thank you any information is appreciated.

Patrick had at least four sisters: May,  Margaret, Catherine and Bridget. Bridget’s 1876 birth record showed Tiernascragh as location for family.

FoIIowing up on Roger's findings, the birth record for Patrick shows the famiIy Iived in Tiernascragh but the birth took pIace in Carrownafinnoge, which is in east GaIway.

I looked closer at the page with the civil birth record for Patrick.His record shows March 14 1869 but all the other records are for individuals born in 1893. Strange!

Thank you for this information.  I am going to Ireland Aug 6-19 and plan to try to find the area he grew up in.  This has been so helpful.

Did the sisters to Patrick also emigrate? Here is a link to our Meet and Greet request site. https://irelandxo.com/meet-and-greet

Hi there,

Tiernascragh is a small place and the family names are all present there today - Moran's and Holleran's.

There is a Moran chap living in Woodford whose people are Moran's from Tiernascragh who would be a good person on this.  I'll see if I can track him down.

Wonderful! I will have to check if he had sisters that came over.  I do know his father came and is buried in New York.  I am not sure when his father came or the story behind that.
