Looking for Healy info, Barcull, Mayo

Looking for original farm of Martin and Bridget Healy in Barcull in Mayo. He still owned in tl in the 1926 census. In there it’s only referred to as House  #9. Don’t know how to translate that to a current address. My cousin is going to Island in a couple of weeks or really is anxious to see the land where my grandmother actually grew up. I know her next-door neighbors were the Snee family. No idea if it’s still in the famiky, still a farm…I know my great grandfather’s wife died young and he remarried and had additional children. His oldest son was John. Martin was born approximately 1875; my gram, also was Bridget and born in 1908: she came to the Us about 1925.

Any help on how to find the propert, what is there now and any info on relatives who may still be in the area would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi

CoPilot

The number on the census was not a universal postal address — it was the order in which the enumerator visited and recorded the property.

Kilmovee, Achonry - Catholic Parish Registers at the NLI

Bridget Doherty/ Dogherty 1876 b., some siblings- Maria 1879, Honor 1887, Thomas 1888; parents- John Doherty and Mary Jordan; all the children were born in Barcull.

John D. and Mary Power were married in 1875 at Kilmovee Parish. Mary was from Barcull. Her father was Thomas.

I checked the Griffith Valuation for Barcull. It identifies individuals leasing land and its location in around 1850. There were no Healys, Dohertys or Powers. The farm might have passed from the Powers to the Dohertys to the Healys through marriage. I have found no records to support this. Typically, the eldest son would inherit the farm. In 1901 there were no Dohertys living in Barcull, just Healys

I noted in the marriage record of Martin Healy and Bridget Doherty, Martin's residence was not Barcull but "Shamur," which is very likely the town of Shammer. You may want to widen the search to include Shammer.
