Looking for ancestor John Gregory Ryan born1/9/1798 Kilkenny

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there are twelve John Ryan baptismal records with father James in Co. Kilkenny during the 1820s. Having his mother's name would be important.

I also looked for marriage records in the 1840s in Co. Kilkenny for a John Ryan to a Bridget and there were none except for an October 1849 marriage record which is after the birth of James in May 1849 in England. Most likely there were married in England.

Have you considered a general DNA test? Possibly you will have matches on the Ryan line who have information on your family.
