Looking for a Patrick McDonnell from Tipperary

I have just retired and I have begun looking into my fathers family.

My grandfather Louis McDonald always said he wanted to go back to Ireland to find this family, so this must have rubbed off on me.

His father was Daniel McDonnell born in Fredericton, New Brunswick May 9, 1867

And Daniel's father was Patrick McDonnell married to Mary Tracy from Tipperary, Ireland.(see Daniel Death file)

All records of ships arriving from Ireland before June 1877 were destroyed in the Great Fire of Saint John.

Grampie always said they changed our name to McDonald went he enlisted for WWII, so he kept it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Census records from Ancestry to assist other volunteers. Was Patrick previously married to a Sarah Jane?

Joe,

Per the 1901 Census Patrick came to Canada about 1845, and Mary came around 1859. Daniel's death certificate identifies Patrick is from Tipperary. I have not found any record showing Mary from Tipperary. Her death certificate does not identify parents' names. I am still looking for Patrick's death certificate.

Patrick's death record does not identify parents. Without additional information, it is difficult to determine where he is from. Patrick McDonnell/ McDonald is a popular name.

Oh wow, thanks MaryTV, where did you find Patrick's death record? I can only image how many Patrick McDonnell came from and are in Ireland.
