Looking for ancestors of Lynskey/Halloran

Hello,

My maternal grandfarther Michael Lynskey was born 8 June 1881 in Market Street, Galway. to John Lynskey and Celia Halloran.

I have also found that he was Baptised in St Nicholas Church on the 10 June 1881 the record shows that Michael Heany and Honor O'Dea were his Godparents.

I believe that John Lynskey and Celia Halloran married in 1870 although i do not have any documented evidence of date etc:

They had seven older children that i know off, and i also think that John Lynskey was previouly married although i again have no prove of this,

i believe that John Lynskey died in June 1898 at the age of 73 and that his occupation while liveing was as a Shoemaker in Market Street, Galway.

Any information on any of the above would be dearly welcome.

Thank you

Here is the civil marriage index record for John and Celia in 1870. You can get a copy of the record for around 4 euros from the General Register Office. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1870. If you want a copy of the record, let me know and I will send instructions. I also located the 1898 civil death index record for John which is below. I could not locate a record for Celia.

I also checked Roots Ireland and they have 11 Lynskey baptismal records from 1870-1890 at the St. Nicholas RC church in Galway City. Roots is a subscription site. This summer the National Library of Ireland plans to have the RC parish registers online for free searching.

Was Michael still in Galway in 1901?

Dear Roger McDonnell

Thank you for the information you have given me about my Great Grandfarther, and yes i would dearly love to obtain copies of his marriage and also his death certificate if possible, so any information as to where i can apply for them would be great,

My Grandfarther Michael married my Grandmother Sarah Jane Rigby on 20 July 1904 in Liverpool, but where he was before that time i realy do not know, so he could have still been in Galway in 1901,

I shall look into joining the Roots Ireland web site.

You help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Regards

Georgina:

Go to this link  https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx

Print out the marriage and/or death form. Fill out the form to the best of your ability, make sure you ask for a copy only, add the info from the index record: year or quarter/year of the event, registration district and volume and page number. You can ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you. Around 4 euros per form.

You haev to mail the form(s) to the GRO in Co. Roscommon. Address is provided.
