Limerick ancestors

Hi Linz,

I found this reference to Odell on the paying site Findmypast. It is from The Treble Almanac of 1805. I attach the document below. He is in Rathkeale Limerick. The Westropp family has a lot of references online including Jane Westropp who was a landlord in the same area Rathkeale, in 1846 I attach the document below. There was Thomas Westropp who attempted to preserve antiquities in the late 19th C.

The Betham Genealogical records have information on the. I accessed it through Findmypast.

The Odell family were landlords in Ballingarry Co Limerick and there are still a few sites there that they were connected with--but my understanding is that they are gone out of this area for at least 150 years. The family came to Co. Limerick via Co, Waterford.

 

The Westropp family settled in several places in Co. Limerick especially Patrickswell  and eventually sold out approx. in the 1920's they purchased the estate at the Chichester House Sales after the Williamite Wars the estate being taken from the ''Hollow Blades Company'' who had received it from the Cromwellians in 1656. The Hollow Blades Company had connections to King James II family. Thomas Jenson Westropp was a very famous explorer of antiquities and his work is of the highest quality. He moved to Dublin about 1910 and promoted Irish dancing and culture and died in 1921.

 

The Bayley family are not well known and would have been connected with the Bouchier Family who got the Castle at Lough Gur after the Desmond Rebellions.
