Leitrim/Drumshanbo Duignans

I’m looking to find out information about my grandparents - Bartholomew Duignan (1875-1949) & Sophia Duignan (King) (1883-1976), both born in Co. Roscommon. My grandfather was a merchant, I believe his store/home was on Church St. in Drumshanbo. They had 8 children, two deceased at early ages. Anthony Desmond, their youngest, was my father. He came to the US (New York) in 1947. I will be traveling to Ireland in September and plan to spend some time in Drumshanbo.

I saw transcriptions of birth records for six of Bartholomew's children on RootsIreland. All but one give the address as Carricknabrack; one gave Drumshambo.  Carricknabrack is an electoral district in Drumshambo.

I could not find a marriage or death certificate for Sophia.

I have shared these records on Bartholomew in the posting above and on this posting. I wonder how he went from herder in 1901 (only Bartholomew listed in census) to a draper in 1905.

Thank you all for this interesting information.  

Is there any way to find information on my grandfather’s shop.  I believe it was on Church St, in Drumshanbo.  I think they also had a farm.  

I’ve seen in some records that my grandmother Sophia died in NY, but that is not correct.  She was living in Coventry, England at the time of her death.
