Lane Family Roots

Hello all! I'm researching the Lane family. From what I have been told from ancestors that have passed we have Irish roots. It is believed they have come from Cork but no one was able to confirm. I have connections to a Lois M Lane-Zultanski (grandmother) ,Lloyd E Lane(her father) ,William B Lane (his fathers) from Ballard, Kentucky USA. I don't know if anyone will be able to trace any Lanes since it is fairly common but any help or knowledge of any Lanes possibly connected would be awesome!

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Hi Sam, I am looking at older queries and you do not give a time frame or indicative one to see what we could find, religion assists also as pre 1864 we rely on church records.

Most church records are free online but sign in, this is only for Cork; Kerry and Dublin currently and can be viewed here : https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

click on church, civil records on commence in 1864 for all, Protestant marriages from 1845

You can view surname distribution here for free but site is a subscription: https://www.johngrenham.com/surnames/

The McLysaghts Surnames of Ireland says Lane is mainly a Cork and Limerick name (adjoining counties)

It is an English name but also Irish and has many variants in Cork.

Regards

Pat
