Frigney,
I could not find one in Dublin in 1856, but on Roots Ireland, I found this record:
William H. Kingston, 1 Jul 1854, COI parish Tullamore, Co. Offaly, parents - Robert Kingston (occupation - clerk of flour office) and Susan - maiden name not recorded
These parents also had the following children - two born in the COI parish of Clonmel on the Tipperary/Waterford border. All show the father to be a clerk or shopkeeper, and some of the later records show that Susan's maiden name was Wilkinson.
Mary Jane, 1846; Robert B, 1859; John G. 1860; Margaret E. 1864; Edward Armstrong, 1867; and Anna Frances, 1871. It is the last two children that are born in the COI parish of Clonmel
There seems to be a large gap between their first two children...I don't know if the COI parish has missing records or if possibly some children died young. I thought that maybe Mary Jane just had parents with the same name, and this is a different family; but the her father's occupation is also given as shopkeeper.
Regards,
Hi,
There are 20 trees on Ancestry for William with documentation that supports he was from Dublin. I could not find a record that supports the 1864 birth to William Kingston and Susanna Wilkinson on these trees. Interesting that Carolyn identified Susanna. Trees aren't always correct. William's first son was Robert.

Frigney and Mary,
I looked at the Ancestry trees with the most records, and none have a baptism record attached to William showing him born in Dublin in 1856 or 1859. The only record on the trees that have that place and date is his Spanish War Compensation record which would have been completed by his wife after his death. Folks did not mark their birthdays as we do today, so many immigrants had no idea of their birth year. Also, some made themselves older or younger on purpose. Ancestry trees have many errors, and I think that his father being William and born in Dublin is one of those errors. The marriage record in Pennsylvania for William and Mary does not show any father's name. Robert and Susan were married in Offaly in 1853, and William was born a year later. The marriage records for the COI parish of Tullamore (Kilbride) began in 1814, so a marriage between William Kingston and Susan Wilkinson would show up.
Looking at your tree, I don't think the marriage record from 1809 in England is for your family....her surname is Mines, and the year is too early for William to be born in the 1850s.
Regards,
Thank you Carolyn
I believe my son Frank Rigney has Susan Mines. I never thought that to be right. My tree under Francis H Rigney has Susana. And I have the request for military compensation form and that's where the Dublin birth was first noted.
Thank you for all the investigating that your group does.
