Kiernan family

I'm Brian Kiernan in Sydney, Australia, seeking recorded info. on John Kiernan DOB/Baptism in Oldcastle on 12 Jan. 1841, who emigrated to Melbourne between 1870-73. Parents believed to be Michael Kiernan and Brigid Coyle married Oldcastle 31 Jan. 1831.

Records also show DOB for a Michael 25/4/32, Elizabeth 20/5/40, Jane 4/8/4 and Mary 6/7/46. Gap between Michaerl and his sisters looks suspicious.

Would like to know which church (denomination) recorded these entries and any other details.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hello Brian, I am looking over queries that were not answered and to me they are Catholics, I could not find the wedding in the registers and do not know why as the marriage is  on Roots Ireland. However I found the baptism for Michael in 1832 in the register, here is the site and search by event, year and month, it is not an easy read but it is there. https://registers.nli.ie/ ;

Also a tip, Church of Ireland and Presbyterian churches rarely recorded the mothers maiden name on baptisms only her Christian name.

Regards

Pat
