KIDNEY,

John Kidney was born in 1790, in Ireland, he died in 1850, in Montreal, Canada. His wife is Margaret Clark, from Scotland, 1793-1877.

John’s parents are ROBERT KIDNEY, 1787- ?., and SARAH KIDNEY, 1778- ?.

I am guessing at what part of Ireland they originated from, I think ms. SARAH is from LONDONDERRY, COUNTY TYRONE.The family was in COUNTY CORK, for a while, to get a ship, to the USA, ELLIS ISLAND about 1838.

their final destination is MONTREAL, CANADA, or the town of ORMSTOWN, in the CHATEAUGUAY RIVER VALLEY.

Their son, JOHN KIDNEY, born in COUNTY CORK, in 1821. What ever the books are called TITHE APPLOTMENT BOOKS show or hs information on this family, during the period of 1820-1830.

I wish I had more information than this. I have been researching them for years and no more than this.

my mothers father ROBERT HOWARD JUNE, is son to CATHERINE KIDNEY and PETER JUNE. as well AS GRANDDAUGHTER TO JOHN KIDNEY.

ROBERT JUNE DIED BEFORE SHE WAS BORN, so this is so important to me

thank you

Here is a link to the Tithe listing search page https://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/index.jsp There were 63 Kidney records although some are duplicates. There were no Robert Kidney records but there are some John Kidney records including some in Co. Cork.

The parents of John Kidney 1821 are John and Margaret or Robert and Sarah? Thanks.

Patricia, I think John Kidney's parents were John and Margaret. Per Carole's tree and others on Ancestry, they had the following children in Ireland-Hiram 1820, Thomas 1820, Margaret 1821, John 1825, James 1826, William 1827. It is suggested John went to Pennsylvania alone in 1844. Four of their children arrived in Philadelphia in 1838 with Sarah (60 years) (I assume their grandmother??) from Londonderry. Margaret Clark the name she uses on all her Canadian records accept death came to Quebec in 1848 from Londonderry. Per the 1851 and 1861 censuses she was living with her sons John and William in Quebec. Her husband John wasn't on either census. In 1871 she was living with William in Quebec. They attended the Church of Scotland.

Regards- Mary

Carole,

You might want to take a DNA test to help discover where your family is from.

Carole,

You might have come across this info on Ancestry already. I think two families are incorrectly being combined.
