Keegans in Aghadiffin/Urlaur

My GG grandmother lived in the Aghadiffin/Urlaur area in the from 1840 to 1879. Her name was Bridget Keegan. I believe she had a sister named Celia (she was a witness to her marriage to my GG grandfather Patrick Keegan in 1862) and perhaps another sister named Atty? She died in 1879 of the black fever (this is how it was relayed to me by my grandmother). Her oldest daughter who was her caretaker at time of death died about 40 days later.

I am looking to find her parents OR does anyone know of any Keegans who still live in that area? I am heading to that area in July.

Thanks!

Rita

Was Keegan her maiden name as well as married name? If not, please post the maiden name. Thank you.

Keegan was her maiden name. I had a typo above. She married Patrick Phillips not Patrick Keegan.

Would her name have been Regan, not Keegan? RootsIreland has this transcription of a marriage record for Bridget Regan and Patrick Phillips. The witness is Celia. See here: https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632351#page/13/mode/1up. Not sure if the first letter is R or K.

Yes....we know it as Keegan and not Regan. It is tragic that mother and oldest daughter died within 40 days of each other. According to Griffith's Valuation....there are several Keegan land lots in the Aghadiffin/Urlaur area. I feel like one of these is her family home. She also had a brother Michael (Mick). I am trying to narrow down which Keegan it is.

I found two Michaels from Aughadiffin in the rootsireland.ie marriage records. Perhaps one of them is your Mick?

This is great! It is interesting that both Michael's share the same names in common in witnesses or a wife - Duffys. I will take a look at both of them a little closer to see what I can find from their father's info. Thank you!
