Kathleen Walsh

I have an ancestor whose birth name was Kathleen/Kate Walsh.  She married Martin O'Toole and they had a daughter also named Kathleen/Kate in September 1930 and now deceased.  (I don't have the exact date of her birth, but it might be the 27th or 6th of that month.) There were other children in the family too, but I have no details of them.  They were Roman Catholics and from  Co. Galway, I think from the coastal area west of Galway city.

Any help you can give to find the details of Kathleen/Kate Walsh's marriage and the names of her other children would be just wonderful, as I am quite stuck in my research, having thoroughly tried irishgeneology.ie and familysearchorg.  Thank you.

Rowan,

You should contact the Registration Office at 25, Newcastle Road, Galway. If she was registered in Galway County there will be a record, as all registered births from January 1st 1864 are computerised.

The 'phone No. is 35391546277

McCoy

Hello again,

Thank you for that suggestion.  As I have problems using the phone and I found there is a way of ordering the birth certificate online I went ahead and did this.  Maybe they are busier at this time of year, but I have not received anything.  I ordered the birth certificate of Kathleen O'Toole b. 27/9/1930 (now deceased) who was the daughter of Kathleen O'Toole nee Walsh and Martin O'Toole.  A certificate should have been posted to me by 5th August and nothing's come, so I expect they cannot find a birth certificate for her and I will have to chase it up for a refund.  I rather think it was a long shot that there would be a civil record of her birth at all, as I know the family were country rather than city people who probably lived in the Inverin area.  Can any volunteer check parish records for me round there?  I know Kathleen had a brother Martin and probably other brothers and sisters too.
