John Thomas Greeves-O'Sullivan

Hello Galway, Greetings from Canada!

I wonder if there are any descendants of John Thomas Greeves-O'Sullivan (1875-1924) living still in Ballinasloe. I have been doing some genealogical research and found that John Thomas was my father's uncle. He seems like a very interesting man and I would love to know more about him. I have some information about him and and even found a photograph!

Thanks in advance, Neil

Hello Neil

Many thanks for your genealogy message. I forwarded your message on to a volunteer in the Ballinasloe area yesterday, so hopefully.............. they will try and find some information for you.

Happy Canada Day!

Dear Neil,

I know it is almost 10 years since you posted this but I reckoned it was worth a shot anyway should you happen to read this message.

My grandfather's mother was Eileen Greeves O'Sullivan who is the daughter of J T Greeves O'Sullivan, she married James Brophy. My Grandfathers name was Dermot Brophy born 1932, he died in December 2022. I am Liam Brophy age 23 living in Dublin. I have inherited a lot of John Thomas Greeves O'Sullivans postcards from the front to his wife and have stored them as well as transcribing the messages when I can. All relatives living in Ballinasloe are sadly now dead. However, should you wish to contact me, I would be more than willing to help!

Regards,

Liam

Part 2 of a postcard he sent I cannot find the year but it is sometime between 1916 and 1918

"I have one consolation in knowing that you love me none the less and to me was always true. And I think even though 11 months apart and seas divide us + midst danger, shot and shell I lived, you could always trust me my own dear Nell, much as I love War+Soldiering I love you none the less and only"

This very old headstone picture might help you with some dates and names of the O'Sullivan family
