John "Noble" O'Connor

I am looking for information on John "Noble" O'Connor, born in 1832 in O'Connor cluster in Grogeen. He married Mary Casey in 1850 and it appears they only had one child, Denis "Fitz" born in1864.I believe his parents are Honara McEnery and Daniel Joseph O'Connor. Thanks!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free Irish government site which has church records for Co. Kerry and a few other counties.

Grogeen is in Finuge civil parish and the related RC parishes would be Listowel or Lixnaw

There are two records in Listowel in 1828 and 1829 for a John Connor with father Daniel and mother Honora. However, the maiden name for Honora on the two records was Fahy. Neither showed Grogeen.

You may want to check out the records.

The only John O'Connor/Mary Casey marriage was in 1846 in Killorglin. I did not find a baptismal record for children of this couple.

Let me know what questions you have.

Thank you!  I probably should have stated that John and Mary were married in Abbeyfeale.  I checked the link you provided and County Limerick is not included.  Are you aware of another website I can check?

Cindy, I am not sure if you have succeeded in your search over the years, but the following snippet of information may be of interest to you:

'Grogeen' is a place-name for an area within the Townland of Caherlane, outside Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, Ireland. There are/were many O'Connors living in that area, 'Noble' was/is a  common nickname for an O'Connor in the area. These O'Connors have descendants in the Abbeyfeale area (and many emigrated to the U.S., etc.). The name 'Noble' is still very common and is used often on its own to identify an O'Connor- without the need for a surname!

The image hereunder shows the Abbeyfeale Register record of the birth of Denis to Joannis John Connors and Maria Mary Casey Connors – note the Connors spelling for O’Connor.

I believe John was brother to my great grandmother Catherine. He and Maria are in the 1851 Census for Limerick. My research shows they had at least 10 children.
