John McPeak

My great grandfather, John McPeak, son of Thomas & Jane McPeak, born circa 1847 in (unknown) Ireland. A weaver, he settled in Pontiac Village, RI with his 1/2 brother, Thomas. He married Margaret (Maggie) McKenna, also from Ireland, and had 4 children. Both John and Maggie died in 1881 and are buried in St. Mary's cemetery in West Warwick, RI.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a baptismal record around 1847 for a John McPeak with father Thomas. I assume your ancestor was Roman Catholic and likely the baptismal was conducted in a parish that no longer has records back to 1847. From other McPeak records available, John McPeak was likely from a Northern Ireland county with Co. Antrim and Co. Tyrone as the likely places of origin.

You may want to add John's emigration story to our XO Chronicles site.  https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database

Sorry it has been so long but the more I search, the more I find.

From what I know, my McPeak family were Protestants from Ulster.
