Looking for information on the above mentioned John Joseph Sinnott.

He was born 1865 or thereabouts in Kildare.

i believe his father was John Sinnott and mother was Mary .....

But I'd like to confirm with a record of baptism or suchlike.

Paul:

On the subscription site Roots Ireland, I located a July 10 1864 baptismal record for a John Synnott with father John Synnott and mother Mary Campbell. The baptism was in the Curragh Camp RC church. John Sr. was in the military. The baptismal record shows 84th which I assume was a Regiment.

Paul,

Please see attached record from Curragh Camp, County Kildare. You might confirm if it relates to your query.

I'm the administrator of the Sennett/Sinnott/Synnott surname study.  I've looked through the study database and the record posted by McCoy does seem to be the only John S-NN-TT born in the right time frame in Kildare.   This does appear to be a very interesting family though, and I don't think it is clear where either of the parents John or his wife Mary Campbell were born, but as an army family I have already found records that mention a number of completely different places.    For a start the only marriage I have found is of John SINNOTT to Mary CAMPBELL in Sheffield (Yorkshire, England) in the December quarter of 1859 (vol 9c  page  618).  I will be requesting a copy of this certificate to confirm whether this John was a soldier, and hopefully it will also give his age and father's name and occupation.  I am more than happy to share the certificate with you when it arrives.   The next record to parents John and Mary nee Campbell is the baptism of a child, John Charles Sinnott in the Scotlandspeople records.   Again, this is an odd one, because the location from the record identifier is "1862 SINNOTT, John Charles (Catholic Registers Births and Baptisms BF12762, Aldershot, Saints Michael and Sebastian)".   But, it ties in with a military background, as this parish history clearly states that it was a Garrison Church in that time frame, though clearly not in Scotland but in Hampshire, England   Parish History | Aldershot Catholics.    I am not clear why the baptism record is now found in Scotlandspeople, unless there was a strong Scottish connection to the army unit there or possible the register was taken back to Scotland by a Scottish Parish Priest.  More research is needed.   Mary Campbell however is highly likely to have Scottish connections with that surname, so that could be another Scottish connection.   John Charles Sinnott doesn't appear to have survived (given the next child was given the same name) but I can't find a record of his death.   Delving a bit deeper I have now also found an 1861 (England) Census record for the family of John Sinnott and Mary at the Infantry Barracks Regent Road Salford (Lancashire, England) with a son Alexander Sinnott, aged 6 months old and born in Manchester, England (yet another location for this family).  This record states that John Sinnott was about 30 years old, a Sergeant of the 84th regt, born in Dublin, and wife Mary was 27 and born in Wexford, Ireland, so this is the same John who was the father of John Joseph baptised in 1864.  I'm going to keep looking at this family as I may yet be able to link John (the father) to more family - its just that when the database contains more than 4000 John S-NN-TTs it can take a good bit of cross-referencing and checking!
