i am trying to find info regarding family of my maternal great grandad John Joseph McGreal.
DOB 26/6/1862 Westport county Mayo wife name was Mary Catherine McLoughlin (not sure of correct spelling)
He left home and went to Liverpool, his brother Timothy, Thomas and James also went to Liverpool, James ended up moving to Canada and marrying a lady named Anna.
Would appreciate any help

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
There were four John McGreal 1862 baptismal records in Oughaval RC parish records. There were also two in 1863 and two in 1864. In addition there was a John Joseph McGreal record in 1860 which is below. Do you know his parents names?
I looked for a civil marriage record for John McGreal and Mary McLoughlin but did not locate a record. Where and when did they get married?

Hi Roger,
Unfortunately the only information I have is his DOB 23June 1862 as per the attached document
I know he worked for blue star or blue circle line as a vet that is why he needed th document as her sailed between Liverpool and America and maybe Canada
I think he may have married in Liverpool
Thank you so much for your help, it is very much appreciated
Sorry have not much, and sadly trying to rely on stories told to me by my mum before she passed
Regards
Irene
Irene:
I would go thru the parish register and see if any of the baptisms for 1862 1863 1864 were around June 23.
