John Deyell and Margaret Lancashire

Monaghan

I am looking for information about John Deyell and his wife, Magaret Lancashire, prior to them leaving Ireland.  The only information about them living in Ireland is from oral tradition and a plaque on the outside wall of the Protestant Hall, in Drum, County Monaghan.  They moved to Canada in the year of 1816.  John received a military land grant of 200 acres in what became Cavan Township.  John may have changed his surname from Dalziel to Deyell.  I am a Great Great Great Great Grandson of John and Margaret.

Thanks.

John Dyell and Margaret Lancashire had at least two children in Ireland:
--William bapt. Church of Ireland 28 Mar 1813 in the parish of Currin, Co. Monaghan. Address: Drumilkin.
--Esther, bapt. COI, 18 June 1815 in the parish of Currin, Co Monaghan. Address: Drumilkin

I hope this is helpful.

In the 1796 flax growers list, there was one “Lankashire” in Co. Monaghan, living in Aghabog:
