Jim:

Based on the two surnames, I'm sure Thomas came from Co. Clare. I searched on two subscription sites Roots Ireland and FindMyPast but was not able to find his baptismal record but I did find a baptismal record for a sister Ann.

Also, Roots Ireland did have a July 13 1836 marriage for a Michael Moroney and Nora McMahon at the Newmarket-on Fergus RC parish

The family likely moved to an area where the RC parish does not have records for the 1840/1850s.

The Clare County library is a good site for Genealogy research https://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm

Let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Jim.

I hope this message will work its way to you. I have been trying to contact you in over a variety of websites. Have left messages via Ancestry.com and believed I tired via Gedmatch as well. I have quite a bit of information on your Moroneys who hailed from Stonehall, Newmarket -on- Fergus and were related to the family of my Grandfather, Edward Ryan, of South Brooklyn, whose parents John Ryan and Annie McMahon also hailed from Newmarket. My mother remembered as a child meeting old Uncle Tom Marooney (as they pronounced it) who was blind and his daughter Mamie, as well as Mae Green who was the daughter of old Thomas's brother, Andrew Moroney, who was a policeman. Please get in touch as I would enjoy sharing information. My private email is erstewart@gmail.com I live in NYC.

Best Regards,

Ed Stewart

Hi Jim,

just confirming that you received the two emails I sent in response to your kind email. If you did not receive them, you might want to check your spam folder to see if for some reason they are being directed there, the 2nd email had a number of documents I think you would find of interest.
Regards, Ed Stewart
