Hi Marie, I am looking at old queries and you do not appear to be getting answers, probably as records are so poor in the 1700s however I understand a professional might be able to assist, there is a list on the National Library site, they will cost everything before agreeing a fee if interested.

Was Derrynane the place where Daniel O'Connell was born. Assume the same family as mentioned but later, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_O%27Connell

You could try the Kerry library or a local history group, also some private genealogy pages on Facebook.

Good Luck

Hi, Dr. Thomas O’Connell is my great grandfather as you go back and the Jeffcott lady is my great grandmother as you go back. I believe her name was Elizabeth, her mother was one of the Fitzmaurices of Duagh. They had two sons and a daughter. Their two sons are my two great grandfathers as you go back through two family lines. After their mother died, Dr Thomas married Ellen Touhy Tralee - who is also related through her family line to the Fitzmaurices. It seems she and his first wife Jeffcott were related as both had links to the Fitzmaurice family. Our family history was not recorded as it should have been so I can not give you definite names for the sons who are the children of Dr Thomas and his first wife Jeffcott but am fairly certain her name was Elizabeth Jeffcott. The Jeffcotts lived in Tralee. Dr. Thomas is related to the Derrynane O’Connells but he spent a lot of his life in Tralee. His daughter Mary married Daniel O’Connell The Liberator. They were third cousins.

Hi Aisling

I am starting to sketch out some of your family on my website here:

https://humphrysfamilytree.com/Blennerhassett/thomas.oconnell.html

I actually skipped over Thomas' 1st marriage since I am interested in the daughters of the 2nd marriage, one of whom may be my ancestor.

I can fix that omission, but in the meantime you might be interested in the further information I have gathered.

Please contact me by email at markhumphrys@gmail.com and we can share information.

Hello Mark,

It is lovely to hear from you. I will email you in the next few weeks. I’m afraid in regard in Dr. Thomas, the above is all I can offer at the moment. We may discover more as time goes on in regard to names. I’m sure someone must know but yes two of his sons are my great grandfathers as you go back through my grandparents, I only wish I could give you definite names at the moment. You look to have done an incredible amount of work on the family tree. Well done it’s fantastic.

Yours,

Aisling O’Connell
