James Shinick* and Johanna Sexton departed Liscarrol, Co. Cork for Canada May 1825

James Shinick and his wife Johanna Sexton left Liscarrol Cork in May 1825 aboard the brig Albion bound for Canada with the Peter Robinson settlement group.

Their first child,Mary, was born at sea 2days out of the port of Quebec City

They went on to have nine other children. The youngest, Richard, was my great grandfather.

James' occupation was listed as "weaver and labourer" on their embarkation certificate.

The Shinik family wereRoman Catholic..

Birthdatefor James was c. 1799 and Johanna c.1805.

I and other family descendents, have records of their life from thatdeparture date but no nothing about their lives in Liscarrol or related familiesthatmay have remainedback in Ireland.

Any assistance with connecting with their Liscarrol history andrelated familes appreciated.

Two other Shinicks emigrated at the same time.... Patrick (wife - Ellen Sulivan? child - James, age 4) was James' brotherand Thomas (wife -Norry ?), a much older sibling or,perhaps he wasthefather of James and Patrick. Children accompanying Thomas were William, age 16, and Mary, age 6.

* The Shinick surnamewas also spelled the following ways in surviving Peter Robinson documents - Shinick, Shinnick, Shinnig,.Shinig, Shunnig, Shounig, Shinnock

Hi a lot of research has been done in Ireland and Canada on The Peter Robinson settlers.

Shinnick various spellings, and Sexton would have been scarce names. it should be possible to get baptisms for the children of   brothers Patrick and Thomas

which would give you an address, Baptisms for Liscarroll started in 1812 and for Newmarket in 1821. Baptisms and Marriages can be viewed free at www.registersnli.ie.

Best of luck with your research,. Let me know how you get on.

Christina.
