Family tradition, has this chap from County, Cork.
He emigrated to Newfoundland, Canada, about 1840, and married Mary Hawco who was probably descended from the Hacquoil/Hawco family)there and were probably married in NFLD.
I am looking to situate James in County, Cork with any data I can get.
Thanks

The surname Dwyer/O'Dwyer was/is very common in the southeast of Ireland including Co. Cork. He may have been from Tipperary or Limerick and sailed from Co. Cork. In any event, there are likely many James Dwyer/O'Dwyer baptismal records around 1820 (assuming he was around 20 when he emigrated.) We would need to know his parents names in order to see if a baptismal record exists.
Have you considered DNA testing? You may have matches with 4th cousins on your O'Dwyer line and they may have more specifics on where he was from.

Hi, Are you sure the name was Harco? And are you sure about Cork?
On Ancestry, I found the 1835 marriage of
James Dwyer and Mary Barns (could Barns have been misread as Harco?)
6 Oct 1835 St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada
A look at the actual register notes that James was from "Fethard, Tipperary."
I began my research with data contained at Holyroodgen.net, which is no longer available, but internet archive "wayback machine" has a snapshot of the site as at January 2022..
James Dwyer appeared in Holyrood from out of the blue around the beginning of the 19th century. His marriage to Mary Hawco on Oct 21st 1818 is his earliest appearance in the Harbour Grace RC records. There were a few other Dwyers married at Harbour Grace about the same time, but I haven’t been able to associate him with any of them, although some baptisms for Michael Dwyer and Catherine Corbett between 1809-1820 look interesting.
Although family tradition Has him as O'Dwyer.
