The church marriage record you cited noted that James was from Mountnugent.
At the paid site RootsIreland.ie, I found the 1899 baptismal record for Bartle McEnroe, first child of James and Ellen. The first son was generally named after the paternal grandfather, so James's father was likely named Bartle (Bartholomew).
A search on RI yielded the following baptismal record. It is for James McEnroe, son of Bartholomew, of Mountnugent.
Name: James McEnroe
Date of Birth: 11-Apr-1871
Date of Baptism: 12-Apr-1871
Address: Rocknock
Parish/District: MOUNT NUGENT
Gender: Male
County Co. Westmeath
Denomination: Roman Catholic
Father: Bartholomewv McEnroe
Mother: Catherine Cooke

I believe the townland in James's baptismal record was mistranscribed and should be Roebuck, not Rocknock.

It appears the McEnroe family lived in Co. Cavan near the Co. Westmeath border. On the subscription site Roots Ireland I located two baptismal records for James. The RC parish for both records was Mount Nugent and Kilbride which spans both counties. The baptismal records showed Bartle/Bartholomew McEnroe as the father and Catherine Cooke as the mother.

Did the 1911 Census provide more info or was your above comment an assumption?

The 1821 census for parts of Cavan has survived. That includes the townland of Carnin and there are about 10 Reilly households listed in Carnin then. If you can find Bridget’s parents, you may find her family in the 1821 census.
Families tended to pass the same names down to the next generation, so for example, here are 2 Bridget Reilly households in Carnin in 1821:

This might be your Ellen, per RootsIreland (paid subscription). She had a sister Rose Ann born in 1861. Brothers- Patrick 1866 and John 1867.

Patricia,
Your extensive replies are very helpful indeed - especially the link to the Bartle McEnroe/Catherine Cooke marriage of 1865.
Thank you.
Roger,
Thanks for the link to birth record of James McEnroe 1871. Very helpful.
Mary TV,
My assumption re Bartle ‘marrying-in’ to the Reillys is based on the 1901 Census where Bartle is married to Ellen Reilly and Bridget Reilly is ‘head of family’.
The 1911 Census throws no further light on the matter.
The baptismal and marriage data does suggest that it is ‘my Ellen’. This is supported by the existence of Rose in the censuses of 1901 and 1911. However, the two sons, John and Patrick, do not appear in either census; maybe they died or went to America? What do you think?
Again, thanks for your great work.
Elwyn,
Thanks very much for the links to the 1821 census but, as yet, I have failed to find Bridget’s parents.
Thanks to you all for such detailed and prompt responses; if you've anything further to add, I'd love to hear it.
Regards,
Breanna.
I did not find additional info on Patrick and John. They may have stayed in Ireland, died (search Irish Genealogy - Explore your Family History), or moved to another country.
BTW
In the 1901 census James is Ellen's husband and Bartle is their son.

I am assuming you are referring to Bridget McEnroe who married Michael Reilly in 1860. Two possibilities. Records from Rootsireland.
