James McCabe, Cavan

Looking for any information or relatives of a James McCabe born September 15, 1835 in Knockbridge, Baleborough, Cavan. He immigrated in 1849to St. Johns, New Foundland, then Toronto, Canada, and finally to Glencoe, Wisconsin, USA. His son John Edward McCabe moved from Glencoe, Wisconsin to Superior, Wisconsin, where he went into business with my gg Uncle John Morgan McCabe. John Morgan McCabe's father was John McCabe born in New Foundland, Canada in 1836. He settled in Albany, New York, where he was a mason. He would be my gg grandfather. His parents must have immigrated prior to 1836, but I have no information on his parents. I am trying to determine if the James McCabe from Cavan is any relation to my family. Thanks for any help.

Siblings for the first one were Bernard 1837 Judith 1838 & John 1845

Siblings for second one: Margaret 1837 & Mary 1843

Were any of these names used by your James in naming his children (Irish naming pattern)?

The Ritter-Johnson family tree on ancestry has the same James McCabe in their tree; have you seen it?

Thank you very much for your help.  I inserted James into my tree on Ancestry with the hope that a DNA match might come up.  There are several trees along with the Ritter-Johnson tree that include James.  However, noone with James listed came up as a DNA match to me on Ancestry, so I am assuming he is no relation.  I was hoping that James may be a cousin of my GG Grandfather John McCabe, since James' son John Edward McCabe and John's son John Morgan McCabe were in business together as the McCabe Insurance Agency in Superior, Wisconsin, starting in 1906.  Oh well, I will keep trying to get information for my John McCabe.  Thanks again. Hello,

I am a great, great granddaughter of James McCabe, born, September 15th, 1835, at Knockbridge, Baleborough, County Cavan, Ireland. (I believe there are some misspellings in these place names that were published in James McCabe's obituary, and that they should read "Knockbride, Bailieborough," right?

You've likely made headway on your search since you posted, but I wanted to check in with you.

Thanks, Lisa
