James Martin & Catherine Armstrong
Hi,
I am a direct descendant of James & Catherine Martin (Armstrong) who emigrated to Australia in 1841 from Magheraculmoney, Fermanagh. They sailed on the Manlius along with 6 sons. Two daughters remained in Ireland. This ship was engulfed with Plague and my GG Grandfather died en voyage. He was buried at sea somewhere near India. The stricken ship ship arrived in Port Melbourne 16 February, 1842 and was declared into quarantine for 6 weeks. The arrival ships log states that there were 5 sons and Catherine, with James having died at sea. There is no mention of the youngest son, Andrew who would have been 2-3 years old. It is presumed he also died at sea. I am seeking any information on the daughters, Elizabeth b. 1822 c and Isabella b. 1825 c. Also Andrew b. 1839c. Thank you regards Shirley Ann Martin
