James Fitzgerald/Ellen Conway

I'm trying to track down my ancestors. My grandfather was James Alfred, son of James Albert Fitzgerald, born in Lambeth, London. His father appears to be Michael Fitzgerald, born 1821 and I believe he was born in Cork, most likely, Annakissy. His father was James Fitzgerald and mother Ellen Conway, from Annakissy. James and Ellen appear to have 2 other sons at least, John born 1821, and Willian, born 1827.

That's as far as I've got and don't know what free resources there are. My dad thought the Fitzgerald name came over illegally/unregistered but I'm not so sure. My dad is now 88 and would love to give him more history.

The subscription site Roots Ireland has baptismal records for seven children of Michael Fitzgerald and Ellen Conway. All but Michael were baptized at the RC parish of Killavullen (Annakissy).William 1807 James 1808 John 1810 Mary 1811 Catherine 1814 Michael baptized October 7 1821 at Castletownroche which is just to the east of Killavullen. There was another William baptized in 1827. Presumably the first William died young.

Marriage records for Killavullen start July 28 1805 and baptisms start June 16 1806. Possibly the marriage occurred before 1805 and there were other children born before the 1807 William.

Thank you so much Roger. This is the first time my side of the family in England has found any kind of family back in Ireland. It's great to see where we came from, and now I have more to explore. My dad will be so happy to see this.
