Maddy,
I have not found Iwade in Ireland. It could be a misspelling, mistranslation, or incorrect. Have you looked at the original census record? If you feel comfortable sharing your great grandfather's name, date of birth, parent names (if you have them), marriage and death information, we can research further. Also, which census year? Can you share a copy?
The free site Irishgenealogy might help in your research.

Thank you Mary.
The original Census Record is 1911 UK and it also has ‘ Iwade’ written on it. My Grt Grandfather is Thomas McGuinness, born 1848, all the other Census Records state He was born in Swords except the 1911 one. His Father is Edward and Mother Margaret but as far as I know they remained in Ireland.
Thomas married Mary Ann Berry in Liverpool, Nov 1870.
It's Swords with a bad first letter 'S' (Image on FMP), the rest of the word is reasonably clear - just to confirm the match - dock labourer, age 62, with son James & daughter Mary Ann living at 98 Hankin Street Liverpool. James & Mary Ann both listed as being born in Liverpool.

Maddy,
I looked at all the England censuses for Thomas on Ancestry. Most of them just show Ireland. The 1911 recap of the census showed Iwade but suggested it was Swords. It looks like Swords to me.
A tree on Ancestry suggests these are his family.

I could be mistaken but to me this word is Swords, Dublin.
I think I need to make an Appointment with Specsavers 😁.
Thank you all…

Thank you Patricia but unfortunately this is not Him. From His Marriage Certificate His Parents are Edward and Margaret, I’ve been trying for about a year to find any info: about His Parents and maybe siblings to no avail. I do appreciate your time searching….
Maddy,
I searched the paid site Roots Ireland in the RC parish of Swords (baptism records back to 1763), and did not find any McGuiness children born to an Edward and Margaret between 1830 - 1860. One would expect the information on his marriage certificate regarding his parent’s names to be accurate. I do find it a bit unusual that they named two of their five children after Mary’s parents, but none named after Thomas’s parents. (I saw an Ancestry tree with their children’s names.)
Regards,
Thank you Carolyn for your time. They are a headache 🤕
I have searched and searched but cannot find any info: maybe it’s time to leave well alone and hope something might come up in the future..
Maddy,
I took another stab at finding your Thomas doing an all Ireland search on Roots Ireland. They are not from Dublin, but here is the information to consider:
James MacGinniss 18 Feb 1832, RC parish Moynalty, Meath, parents - Edward MacGinniss & Margaret Clarke
Patrick MacGuinness 9 Feb 1840, Moynalty, Meath,
parents - as above
Thomas MacGennis 4 Dec 1844, Moynalty, Meath,
parents - as above
Regards,
Thank you so much Carolyn, I will definitely consider what you have provided me with, it looks hopeful.
There won’t be any ‘ housework’ getting done today 😃. I will let you know how I get on….
Carolyn, unfortunately they are not my Ancestors but thank you for your time, back to the drawing board 😀
