Irish Immigration to CANADA

Folks, I can think of 3 main resources I use about Irish immigration to Canada -

A lot of British egiments recruited in Munster (1812ish)and the families eventually served and/ or took land grants in Lower Canada (Quebec) and Upper Canada /Ontario.

Online resources include the Library and Archives Canada site which is absolutely great (I think the genealogy info is in the directory near the bottom of the page) .

Also, Rosemary McCluskey in Peterborough has done tremendous documentation of the Ontario immigrants. - look at https://nineships1825.com/ . As well, you can consult the Petworth Immigration scheme records.

All the best!

Looking for Mary Kirby or Mary Laherty and family in New Foundlad. Any information?

I don't know much about immigration to Newdoundland - some of it was very early in Canadian terms https://www.heritage.nf.ca/articles/society/irish-migration.php

The best bet for finding indivuals are the on-line genealogy resources of Library and Archives Canada. They may also be able to answer specific questions submitted by email, but try to narrow possibities first - they're busy folks.

Also, Newfoundland was not part of Canada until 1949, so their census info may be filed or listed separately

Good luck!
