Irish immigrants in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada

Greetings! This is my first forray into Irish XO so my apologies if I'm about to breech etiquette. I'm searching for ancestors and decendents of William Allen who immigrated from Conner Parish, County Antrim, Ireland to Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. I believe he arrived, with his wife and children, in Hastings county in 1821. William and his family homesteaded some property about 5 miles north of the present-day town of Medoc, Ontario. If anyone has information about William Allen's decendents...possibly still living in Ontario...or his siblings who remained in Ireland, please post on this board. Thanks! Bob Allen

Hi Bob,
For tracing immigrants we suggest a few different sites to start your research.

Official passages lists from Ireland only exist from 1890 and they are held in Board of Trade records- BT27 - in the National Archives Kew London.
www.nationalarchives.gov.uk Digitised an indexed at Ancestry and Findmypast.

Prior to 1890 you are more likely to find passengers at the port of arrival so for instance check the website of the record holder - here it would be Canada so www.collectionscanada.gc.ca
It's also useful to check out the local record office.

The Genealogical Publishing company have published various passenger lusts of interest to Canada. Check out
www.genealogical.com
