Holt / Lawler

I am trying to find any information on my great great grandparents James Holt & Catherine Lawler.they were married in October 1842 in Ballyshannon. They had 2 children when they sailed to New Zealand in 1847. James was in the army from 1812 which he joined whenten years old as a Drummer Boy. The army records show him as being born in the parish of Saint Barrys in County Cork. He was in the 46th Foot South Devonshire Regiment until 1842 when he was given a Chelsea Pension. I have no information on Catherine except her birth was about 1818.

Just wondering whether you received any replies to your query above. James Holt and Catherine Lawler are  my great x3 grandparents (I am from their son Robert) and am keen to find out more about them. Thank you

Hello,

James Holt and Catherine  Lawler are also my 3x great grandparents.  I am descended from their son John,who was one of the 2 children who came with them  to New Zealand  in 1847.

I am interested  in information  about John's birth. He died 6 September  1872, in Thames,Coromandel, New Zealnd ,aged 35/ 36 years which would put his birth circa  1835 or 1836  which is before his parents marriage. I'm wondering if in reporting his death the newspaper made a mistake and his age was 25/ 26 which would make his birth around 1845/ 1846.

I am also interested  in information  regarding  Catherine's birth and birthplace.

Cheers

Maidie
