Hobbs of Killimor
Hello - I am descended from the Hobbs of Killimor. I have9 Hobbs siblings and their spouses born in Killimor from abt 1804-1821, with about half, along with various neices and nephews, goingto various places in America whilethe other half remainedinGalway. I am looking forthe names of the parents of these siblings. One of the siblings, Fr Martin Hobbs (b1812-1871), became a curatein Killimor in 1836, Clonfert Parish (later Hopkins) 1837, Abbeygormican (laterMullagh) 1839,Duniry 1845, Kilnadeema 1847 and after which he left to serve as a priest in Wisconsin where he established new parishes and churches in the wilderness. It was suggestedthat the Galway church/parishes may have records of his parents names in his paperwork as a curate/priest. (I have been unable to find any birth/baptism certificates via the Ancestry Irish Parish database of any of the siblings but have found them for their children.) Do you think this church angle might work and where could I find this info?Thank you very much - Monica Hobbs
